About the show

PhMuseum Lab presents the work Slightly Altered by the Ukrainian duo Synchrodogs, coming to Bologna for the first time. The photo exhibition offers a reflection on the interdependence between man and nature in a historical context in which this relationship seems to be precarious.

The project originated during several trips through the Carpathians, the largest mountain range in Eastern Europe, where the two artists travelled to examine the extent to which human intervention could be perceived. This became an opportunity to combine performative photography with installations to show us how the most simple alterations can modify the (a)symmetries existing between the environment and the human subject, with potentially irrevocable consequences.

To access the exhibition venue, a Green Pass is mandatory and admission is free. The online booking guarantees priority access but you can also register directly at the entrance.

Bio

The photographers Tania Shcheglova (1989) and Roman Noven (1984) are a Ukrainian duo who has been working together since 2008 under the name of Synchrodogs. Their production is often characterized by the combination of naked bodies, landscapes, manufactured goods, and installations that give rise to a performative photography that deals with issues such as the relationship between man and environment.

During their career they have exhibited their works in galleries and museums such as Benaki Museum (Greece), Boston Museum of Fine Art (USA), Annenberg Space for Photography (USA), Palais de Tokyo (France), Somos Gallery (Berlin), Guy Hepner Gallery (USA) and Galerie Blanc (Canada).

The work of Synchrodogs has been recognized by several international organizations. Among the main ones, they won FOAM Construct 2012 (Holland) and Vogue Talent section Fine Art Photographer (Italy). Their works have been published in numerous international magazines, ending up on the covers of many of them including British Journal of Photography (England), Vogue (Ukraine), Stylist (France), Impression (USA).

In addition to producing personal works, Synchrodogs often work in the world of fashion and cosmetics, having produced campaigns for major brands such as Burberry, Marni, Kenzo, Swarovski and Shiseido. Another example of the connection between their artistic practice and their commercial meaning is the monograph Fashion Eye of Ukraine published by Louis Vuitton in 2020, a volume that includes their Slightly Altered series.

Synchrodogs are represented by Stieglitz19 Gallery (Belgium) and Galleri Urbane (USA).
