PhMuseum Lab will host some of the best photography events in Bologna, inviting national and international figures for photo book presentations and photography conferences. Becoming a creative hub of excellence in the city and beyond. As well as our already extensive calendar of photography events, we will host general activities related to 'the image'; such as exhibitions, independent film and documentary screenings but also pop-up performances dedicated to independent music.

The fifth appointment of Photobook Mania will take place on Friday 11 October at PhMuseum Lab. Artist Benedetta Casagrande will present All Things Laid Dormant, winner of the Luigi Ghirri Prize 2024 and of the FE+SK Book Award, and published by Skinnerboox.

Mother-of-pearl, which will in time become the pearl, begins to form when a foreign element is introduced into the oyster. Starting from this metaphor, Catalan artist Rita Puig-Serra traces her childhood in an effort to process the abuses she suffered in her family as a child. It is an attempt to tell what needs to be told; a way of telling what could never be revealed to a now absent mother. And, at the same time, a way of telling it to herself.
