About the event

The eight appointment of Photobook Mania will take place on 6 March 2025 at PhMuseum Lab. Photographer Federico Possati will present Almanac of Forgotten Memories, published by Skinnerboox in collaboration with Leporello Books.

“In 2020 I became a father for the second time, and I moved back to Milan after living in New York for 8 years. The last time I lived in Milan was in 2010, and back then I was single, studying Mechanical Engineering and spending the nights dreaming of becoming an artist. It felt like a transformative life cycle had ended and another one had begun. My book, “Almanac of Forgotten Memories” explores this transformation.”

This book was born out of a necessity to give meaning and weight to an ever-growing pile of images, an obsessive catalog of small treasures found in everyday life. Using the structure of an uncommon diary, images, and text come together creating a narrative that continues throughout its 365(-ish) pages.

Like a diary, the book is divided into 12 chapters, but unlike a classical diary, each chapter recalls a month taken from a different year. The result is a collection of memories, events, and instances that come together, creating a blurry painting of 12 years in a life.

Some copies of the book will be available to be purchased and signed by the author.

Bio

Federico Possati was born in Bologna in 1988. In 2016, he earned a degree in Film and Media Studies from Columbia University in New York. During his time at Columbia, he became deeply connected with the photography department, where he developed a fascination with their approach to the medium and its potential as a narrative tool. This serendipitous encounter sparked a lasting interest in exploring the versatility of images and leveraging the unique qualities of different media.

He worked as a freelance artist in New York until 2020, when he relocated to Milan with his family. His artistic practice spans both photography and video projects, consistently imbued with a strong narrative focus. His creative process begins by gathering visual fragments from the world around him, which he then reassembles into new stories—constructing fresh perspectives and uncovering alternative truths.

Admission to the event is free. For more information, write to us at info@phmuseumlab.com.
